Elfyn Evans believes that this year's championship is more or less decided in favor of Sebastien Ogier being realistic for this fact.
The Welsh driver is in second position with Thierry Neuville in the driver's championship as both of them have same points and their difference from the first Sebastien Ogier is 38 points.
Evans has won only one time this season at Rally Portugal and he has three podiums at the moment whereas he finished tenth at Safari Rally Kenya after damaging the front suspension of his Yaris.
However, he struggled to find pace and to feel comfortable with his car in many races this year and as a result of that he finished three times inside the top five.
"My aspirations are still to do as well as possible", Evans said.
"I think if you want good results, you have to drive at your very best.
"It’s ultra-competitive and that’s just the way.
"Of course we know the championship is more or less, I wouldn’t say decided, but it’s looking more and more that way.
"We are realistic about that, let’s say, but it doesn’t change the mindset as such".
Finally, Evans does a summary of his performance so far saying that he had a strong start this season whereas the last rallies were difficult for him: "The start of the year was pretty strong, and OK we came into a few results by being quite consistent, let’s say.
"Still, the pace was good and winning a lot of stages.
"This time, or on the last few rallies, obviously it hasn’t been the case.
"Obviously with a strong start to the year comes the road order thing as well, which obviously hasn’t helped on some rallies, but that’s not the whole picture.
"But yeah, just haven’t been firing fully on all cylinders.
"Not really a reason behind it, but of course we need to get on the front foot really".
