Suninen exits M-Sport Ford with immediate effect

Teemu Suninen announced today via his management firm that he will not continue his partnership with M-Sport Ford for the rest of this season.

The Finn driver started his career in M-Sport academies and he has been competing with the Rally1 car of M-Sport Ford since 2017 having achieved three podiums.

However, Suninen lost his WRC seat this season from Gus Greensmith and he was sharing the second Rally1 and Rally2 car of M-Sport Ford with Adrien Fourmaux, but his appearances were not consistent as he did many mistakes and he had many crashes already from the first day of the events.

It must be mentioned that Suninen is linked to sign a part-time contract with Toyota next season as Sebastien Ogier will participate in a small number of events.

Moreover, Dani Sordo and Esapekka Lappi are the other two potential candidates to join Toyota in 2022.

"It’s time for us to say goodbye to M-Sport", Suninen said.

"I’m grateful that I had a chance to be one of the WRC team drivers for several years.

"It has been a journey full of learning with some great moments.

"However, nothing lasts forever, and we have now decided it’s time to go on to new challenges".
