Rovanpera surprised by the time gaps in Greece

Kalle Rovanpera did not expect to have such a big time gap on some stages to his rivals taking into account the technical stages of Acropolis Rally Greece and how tough event this is.

The young Finn achieved his second win this season in Greece and he dominated almost all the weekend as he set the fastest times in eight from fifteen stages and his gap from the second Ott Tanak was at 42,1 seconds.

Moreover, according to him, he did some changes to the set-up of his Yaris at the end of Friday and he was more comfortable on Saturday stages while he and his co-driver, Jonne Halttunen, were working hard on their pace notes as there were many stages that ran only once.

Rovanpera is currently fourth in driver's championship and he will start fourth on Friday at his home event, Rally Finland.

"It was a great weekend", he told DirtFish.

"To be honest I was a bit surprised about the time gap on some stages.

"I felt all the time in the car that the times are going to be good but of course the times were quite big gap to the other guys, so I was a bit surprised about the gap but I felt all the time that it’s going to be good stages.

"I knew it was going to be a tough event but it really was.

"The stages were really, really technical and when you come here first time and do new notes as everybody did, it’s really challenging.

"There was a lot of work on the notes and we did so many stages here only one time so there was a lot of different stages, a lot of work on the notes and really tough stages so it was a long week but I think that was one of our strong points this weekend".
