Andreas Mikkelsen believes that it is difficult for him to find a WRC seat next season while he is of the opinion that he is first in line if there is an available seat in 2022.
The Norwegian driver remained out of WRC at the end of 2019 as his former team, Hyundai Motorsport, did not renew his contract for 2020, therefore he took part in three events of WRC2 category that year.
In fact he could not find a WRC seat in 2021 as well, so he decided to take part in WRC2 category and in ERC this season with the team Toksport WRT and with the Skoda Fabia Rally2 evo where he became 2021 WRC2 and ERC Champion.
"It has been very clear that, of course, we'd love to be back in the WRC, but it’s very difficult at the moment and there are not a lot of available seats", Mikkelsen said.
"There are a lot of good drivers out there, so it’s very, very difficult at the moment.
"I feel we are first in line if something happens, but like I said, it's not easy.
"The only thing I can really, really do is just make sure I'm first in line when the opportunity arises and hopefully we will be back in.
"Let's see.
"So far, it's difficult".
