Gus Greensmith revealed in press conference of Rally Spain on Wednesday that he and Chris Patterson will end their cooperation at the end of this event as the last one will retire from rallying.
The M-Sport driver parted way with his former co-driver, Elliott Edmondson, at the end of Arctic Rally Finland and he chose Patterson as his new co-driver.
Patterson was a former co-driver of Kris Meeke, Nasser Al Attiyah and Petter Solberg and he retired at the end of 2018, but he decided to compete again in WRC alongside Greensmith.
Their agreement was only for this season, but Patterson decided to retire one event earlier than it was expected, so Greensmith has to search for a new navigator for the season finale.
It must be mentioned that Greensmith improved himself thanks to the experience of Patterson and together they have finished in fifth position overall three times this year.
"It’s mine and Chris’s last event together, which is pretty sad, but unfortunately, it was only ever for a year", Greensmith said.
"We had to get him out of retirement and despite my best efforts – which I’m still not giving up – it’s our last rally.
"We know how important having a good co-driver alongside me is.
"We’re taking our time making the decision but the last decision we made was a brilliant one, so I’m sure we’ll make the same one again".
