Sebastien Ogier has completed his first simulator test with Toyota for WEC and he will drive the GR010 Hybrid Hypercar in next month's rookie test in Bahrain.
The French driver had mentioned in the past that his dream is to take part in WEC and for this reason he will retire from WRC at the end of this season with the intention of making his debut in WEC next year.
As he said earlier this year, he was in discussions with Toyota for a WEC programme in 2022, but eventually he will combine his debut in WEC with some appearances in WRC after having confirmed to do a partial programme with Toyota in WRC next year.
About his WEC simulator test, Ogier spent two days in Cologne to do his first simulator test with Toyota for WEC and he will participate in the rookie test of the team in Bahrain on November 7, just one day after the final round of the WEC season.
Finally, WEC and WRC calendar coincide in two dates of 2022 calendar as Acropolis Rally Greece will be helt at the same date of the WEC round at Fuji Speedway while both series' season finales will take place on November 10-13.
However, it is understood that 2022 driver's line-up of Toyota in WEC is full, so there are little chances for him to participate in WEC next season.
"I’m happy to be driving the GR010 Hybrid Hypercar on track for the first time in the official WEC rookie test in Bahrain", Ogier said.
"The simulator session went well; it was nice to work with the team and discover the GR010 Hybrid for the first time".
