The team principal of Hyundai Motorsport, Andrea Adamo, says that there is possibility for his team to compete with four Rally1 cars in the second half of next season.
The Alzenau team got left behind in the preparations for its hybrid i20N Rally1 car for next season as it waited to receive the green light from Hyundai in Korea to renew its agreeement with WRC Promoter and FIA for season 2022 and in fact it was the last WRC team which started testing its new car this season.
Therefore, the Korean team analyzes the possibility of four cars next season and of taking part in national events with the intention of developing its new car through these events apart from testing the car ahead of WRC events.
"In the first half of the year, I hardly see this possibility to run four cars", Adamo told DirtFish.
"In the second half the chance could be not bad.
"We cannot forget the number of test days we have is still limited, so maybe we can have some more sport – the more we run the car the more experience we are going to be taking".
Finally, Adamo does not exclude the possibility of his drivers to participate in national events next year with the hybrid Rally1 car of Hyundai: "Everybody is looking at opportunities to do more development and more testing – I cannot deny this.
"But I think everybody, the FIA, the promoter and anybody else cannot deny the attention we raise on the WRC from doing those events in places where they didn’t previously have the chance to see these cars".
