Ott Tanak announced today via his social media that he will not be at this year's ACI Rally Monza due to personal family matters.
The Estonian driver is not anymore in the fight for the driver's championship of 2021 after the end of Rally Finland and he is only in fifth position overall as he won only once this year [Arctic Rally Finland] and he finished three times in the podium positions [Safari Rally Kenya, Acropolis Rally Greece, Rally Finland] while he faced many problems in some events through this season.
However, Hyundai Motorsport is currently in second position in manufacturer's championship and it is 47 points behind the first Toyota which means that it is difficult for the Korean team to defend its championship title in WRC season finale at Monza.
"I am gutted to say this, but unfortunately I am not able participate at ACI Rally Monza 2021 due to personal family matters", Tanak said.
"This is a tough decision to make, but it's a needed one.
"I wish the very best of luck to our team for the final round of the championship, there's still much to fight for.
"See you guys soon."
