Sebastien Ogier confirms his participation at next season's Rallye Monte Carlo with Toyota Gazoo Racing, but he still does not know his WRC programme for 2022 as the discussions with the team have not started yet.
The French driver will share the third Rally1 car of Toyota with Esapekka Lappi next year after his having announced his retirement from WRC at the end of this season, therefore he will have a partial programme in WRC for 2022 as he will compete in WEC as well with Toyota.
It is noteworthy that Ogier has won eight times in Monte Carlo so far with four different Rally1 cars and he will test the hybrid Yaris GR for the first time after the end of Rally Monza while it is tipped that his WRC programme will be decided until the end of 2021.
"Definitely the team is counting on me for Monte-Carlo, that is something we can say already for next year", Ogier said.
"About the rest of the year, there is still quite some decisions to be made, and the good thing is the team is not pushing me too much.
"Having Esapekka with me means that whatever I decide at some point, I think the team know they have a very good...
"I don’t want to say second option because I am sure he can perform very well, so that’s the chance we have at the moment.
"So far, in the discussions we have had, the team has been really relaxed with me and kind of gave me a chance to decide to do what I want, but of course, at the same time, I don’t want to be completely selfish.
"There will be at some point some discussion with them to maybe work on a strategy.
"We will have to see.
"We haven’t discussed that yet".
