Greensmith receives a podium goal by M-Sport Ford for 2022

The team principal of M-Sport Ford, Richard Millener, says that the team has put to Gus Greensmith a podium target for next season taking account into his driver's performant in the last two years.

The British driver changed his former co-driver, Elliott Edmondson, at the end of this year's Arctic Rally Finland and chose the experienced Chris Patterson to be alongside him in 2021.

Since Patterson joined him, Greensmith secured his best result in WRC which was the fourth position overall at Safari Rally Kenya while he finished twice in top five positions (Rally Portugal, Acropolis Rally Greece).

It is noticeable that Greensmith has changed his approach and became a very consistent driver since Patterson was navigating him through this season.

However, Patterson retired at the end of Rally Spain and Greensmith chose Jonas Andersson as his co-driver for Rally Monza who is a very experienced co-driver as well.

Finally, Andersson was confirmed by Greensmith yesterday as his co-driver for 2022 as the last one wants to have an experienced co-driver alongside him.

"Gus has been with us and at and around the top level since 2017 and he’s been there more consistently with a World Rally Car for a little over two years", Millener said.

"This is where he has to look forwards to the next step and I think the next step for him has to be to the podium.

"We know where our car has been for the last couple of seasons – we know we’ve been working towards the Puma and maybe that’s been to the detriment of the current car on certain surfaces.

"But with the car we’ve got coming in 2022, I don’t think there’s any reason why he can’t move up to the next level".
