Andreas Mikkelsen commits to his WRC2 program with Toksport for one more season expressing his desire to return in the main category of WRC and being of the opinion that he is the first in the line if a WRC seat is available for 2022.
The Norwegian driver competed in WRC2 category this season and he secured the 2021 title in this category as his main rival, Mads Ostberg, faced many problems with his Citroen C3 R5 resulting in losing points in comparison with the first one.
Meanwhile, Mikkelsen participated in ERC as well with the Skoda Fabia evo Rally2 car of Toskport and he crowned as the Driver European Rally Champion this season.
"The plan is to start next season with Toksport and do WRC2 in 2022", Mikkelsen said.
"But that’s like the base plan we have at the moment.
"Like I think you know, I want to be back to the top of the championship and I want to be in a Rally1 car next season.
"Right now there are no seats available, but all I can do is be the first in line if a seat does become available.
"I set the goals high for this season and we won both championships.
"We had a car that was reliable and competitive.
"At the end of the year I’m happy – as well as the competition, I’ve continued to do some testing with Pirelli.
"I will keep working for next year".
