At the end of the first day of Rallye Monte Carlo, Sebastien Ogier pips Sebastien Loeb on the first two stages of the race with Elfyn Evans following them.
Sebastien Ogier is in first position overall and set the fastest time in Stage 1 and 2.
Sebastien Loeb follows his compatriot and his gap from the lead is at 6,7 seconds.
Elfyn Evans completes the top three and faced difficulty to adapt to his new Yaris.
Adrien Fourmaux is fourth overall after the end of Stage 2 while he was in sixth position after the Stage 1.
Gus Greensmith completes the top five and was being happy with his performance and with his Puma saying that he was waiting two years for the hybrid cars.
Thierry Neuville is only sixth overall and he said at the end of Stage 1 that he lost the breaks early in that stage. In addition, it was reported some liquid leak after his having left from the stop control of Stage 2.
Craig Breen dropped two positions and he is now in seventh position overall.
Ott Tanak, Takamoto Katsuta and Oliver Solberg complete the top ten.
Tanak reported at the end of Stage 2 that he faced some engine issues in Stage 1 while he lost some hydraulics in the last stage of the day.
Solberg lost his rhythm in these two stages as he could not hear clearly his co-driver, Elliott Edmondson. Moreover, he had a big moment in Stage 2 as he had a half spin.
Kalle Rovanpera is eleventh overall and dropped time in SS1 and in SS2. In fact he had a spin at the beginning of Stage 1 and he had to reverse.
