The team principal of Toyota Gazoo Racing WRT, Jari-Matti Latvala, does not agree with Esapekka Lappi's statements about team orders at Rally Sweden as the first one believes that it is very early in the championship to put into effect tactic games.
Esapekka Lappi stated two days ago that he would not have any problem to follow Toyota's instructions in Sweden with the intention of helping his teammates for the driver's championship taking into account the fact that he has a part-time program this year.
"Like you mention we don’t really like team orders and if Lappi is leading when we are so early in the season and still if he can score the points for the team this is, let’s say, more important", Latvala said.
"If he is ahead of Kalle or Elfyn, I don’t think we need to do any actions, I don’t think we want to do any team orders in that situation.
"Basically for me using the team orders is only for the very end of the year when you have to secure the championship".
