The stewards of Rally Croatia have given to Elfyn Evans a fine for breaking the FIA sporting regulations during the afternoon loop of Saturday.
More specifically, a mechanic forgot to replug the cable of the camera device on the morning service meaning that WRC+ could not broadcast all the four afternoon stages of the second day of Rally Croatia.
The onboard camera was also helpful for the stewards to notice if the crew did not follow the FIA rules and regulations and this was the reason why the stewards decided to give a fine to Evans.
Evans must pay 15.000€ for this human error, 10.000 of this fine being applied with suspension of sentence subject to no further breach of a similar nature – live camera system interference during the rally – at any WRC event during the 2022 season.
FIA thinks that the driver could have checked if the camera device is working well as the technicians cannot fix it if the cars are out of the Service Park.
Finally, it must be mentioned that this incident had a negative impact to commercial rights of WRC Promoter.
