Gus Greensmith eyes on finishing in podium positions at next week's Rally de Portugal admitting that he is feeling this rally like his home event.
The British driver did his WRC debut in Portugal back in 2019 and drove the Ford Fiesta WRC for the first time there, but his race did not end up like he wanted as he crashed out after his jump in Fafe.
However, he returned to Portugal in 2021 and he finished in fifth position overall having Chris Patterson as his co-driver.
"The ambition there is to get a podium", Greensmith said.
"That’s the only focus.
"It will be flat out from the first stage and I’ll give it absolutely everything.
"And whatever the result is at the end of the weekend, it won’t be through lack of effort.
“No excuses to not perform, but then again no pressure because I love the place so much.
"When I get there I feel like it’s my home rally.
"I don’t know, I think it’s because it was my first WRC event when I was younger back in 2015.
"Ever since then, I’ve just really enjoyed it.
"For some reason, Wales never really felt like a home event even though Chester was 45 minutes from where I live.
"But for me Portugal just feels very special, so I’m already going two days early for the test and two days early for the rally".
