Elfyn Evans believes that his road position on next gravel events will benefit him and keeps the positive things from the bad start he had in 2022.
The Welsh driver finished in 21th place overall in Monte Carlo and had a DNF in Sweden due to the fact that he was forced to retire on Sunday after crashing into a snowbank while his best result so far is the fifth place in Croatia.
Evans has only 17 points so far on this year's championship and is sitting in ninth position just two points behind his teammate, Sebastien Ogier, who has a part-time program this year.
"That’s the one silver lining, I guess, from all the bad rallies we have had", Evans said.
"That start position will be favourable for at least a few rallies more, I would say.
"We’re going into gravel rallies now and we will have a good place on the road there.
"That’s the positive.
"Obviously, this isn’t the start to the season that we wanted, there’s no way of getting away from the fact we’ve had three tough rallies.
"The thing we have to try to do now is relax and use the position we have on the road – and hope it doesn’t rain in Portugal!"
