Esapekka Lappi admits that he had new parts in his Toyota GR Yaris Rally1 during Rally Italia Sardegna with the intention of testing them for Safari Rally Kenya.
Although Lappi will skip Safari Rally Kenya as Sebastien Ogier will make his third outing with the Yaris this season, Toyota decided to fit new parts in Lappi's car in Sardinia to see how the car will behave with these parts and to get prepared for Kenya.
Safari Rally Kenya will be held on June 22-26 and is the sixth round of this year's World Rally Championship.
"I was running some parts for Kenya", Lappi said.
"I’m not going to tell you what.
"I already felt better with this set-up in Sardinia.
"OK, the road is not the same like Safari, but the car was feeling good; we changed a lot and I think it was a good step for the next round.
"It was more than just working with the ride height and things, but I can’t tell you the specifics".
