Rally Sardinia - 2nd Day - 2nd Loop: Lappi and Tanak just 0.7sec apart after Italy day two

At the end of the second day of Rally Italia Sardegna, Esapekka Lappi retook his lead back from Ott Tanak with Pierre-Louis Loubet following them.

Esapekka Lappi is now the new leader of Rally Italia Sardegna and set the fastest time in Stage 7 resulting in stealing the first place from Ott Tanak.

The Estonian driver dropped second at the end of Stage 7 as the transmission of his i20N broke near the end of that stage and his car felt like a three-wheel drive. However, he was the fastest driver in Stage 6 and extended his lead after that stage win.

Pierre-Louis Loubet completes the top three and took back his third place from Craig Breen at the end of Stage 7.

Breen did two mistakes in the afternoon as his car stalled in a left-hander and had to restart in Stage 6 while he had a half spin in a hairpin in SS7. His gap from Loubet is at four tenths of a second.

Dani Sordo completes the top five and will fight for the lower place of the podium with the M-Sport duo on Saturday.

Adrien Fourmaux remains sixth overall and is not been threatened by the seventh Takamoto Katsuta as their gap is at 34,7 seconds.

Kalle Rovanpera, Thierry Neuville and Andreas Mikkelsen complete the top ten.

Gus Greensmith is outside the top ten and will chase some drivers tomorrow with the intention of taking back some positions.

Stage 8 and 9 were cancelled!
