Mikkelsen asks from FIA to change WRC2 rules

Andreas Mikkelsen believes that it will be very tricky to defend his WRC2 title over Kajetan Kajetanowicz in 2022 and implies that WRC2 rules should be changed by FIA.

The Norwegian driver is currently leading WRC2 Championship with a three-point gap over Kajetanowicz despite the fact that the first one retired twice due to engine issues.

Mikkelsen has won three events in this year's championship in comparison with the driver from Poland who has taken only one victory while they have competed against each other only two times so far.

Last but not least, it must be mentioned thatWRC2 drivers must compete in seven rounds of the calendar and FIA gives the opportunity to them to choose where they want to take part in meaning that some competititors do not go head-to-head battle and can score the maximum points if their main rivals skips a specific event.

"It’s tricky", Mikkelsen said.

"I know it’s difficult.

"Let’s say we chose five rallies where we all have to compete, the entry list for the other events on the WRC calendar won’t be great.

"That’s the tricky part and I’m not sure how to solve it.

"But, we should try to find a way that we all try to drive the same rallies, we are all in the competition together and no-one is flying off to other countries where no one else is doing them.

"We have to choose what’s next.

"I’d say the championship looks best for Kajto right now.

"We’re trying to figure out which rallies he will do so we can go and meet him.

"There are some rumors that he might do Japan and New Zealand and that’s not happening for us – I don’t think we will do any long hauls".
