Elfyn Evans admits that he struggled to find confidence from his Toyota GR Yaris Rally1 throughout last weekend in Finland and tried to change many things to it.
The Welshman was in third position overall until the start of Stage 12 where he lost his place over Esapekka Lappi and dropped to fourth.
However, he lost even more ground to his teammate in Stage 17 and 18 as the rear wheel of his Yaris was at a slightly odd angle, therefore he and Scott Martin were working on the left rear suspension on the road section before the start of SS18.
Last but not least, it must be mentioned that Evans was the winner of last year's Rally Finland, but he was not able to match Ott Tanak and his teammates last weekend.
"It’s been a bit of a frustrating weekend", Evans said.
"At times I’ve not felt too bad but at others I’ve struggled a bit with the feeling in the car, a bit more than in other weekends.
"The car was good but I was just missing that last bit of confidence from it.
"We were changing quite a lot during the weekend to try and find that but sometimes that can just make things worse.
"On Sunday, we weren’t really in a close fight so we took the opportunity to try something a bit different.
"In the Power Stage I wasn’t really satisfied with my run but we still got a few extra points which is always helpful".
