Rally Finland - 3rd Day - 2nd Loop: Tanak's lead under control, late drama for Evans

At the end of the third day, Ott Tanak is still on top of Rally Finland's overall classification with Kalle Rovanpera and Esapekka Lappi following him.

Ott Tanak remains out in front and controlled his lead over his rivals on the afternoon loop of Saturday setting an identical time with Kalle Rovanpera in Stage 17. Moreover, he had a big moment towards the end of Stage 18 and lost 3,1 seconds.

Rovanpera moved ahead of Esapekka Lappi at the end of Stage 16 as he was the fastest driver in all stages. Despite the fact that one of his tyre had been pushed off the rim in Stage 15, he continued to push for the rest of the loop.

Lappi lost his second position over his teammate and is now third as he was distracted after a rock cracking his windscreen in Stage 15.

Elfyn Evans is still fourth overall, but his gap from his teammates is now even bigger and it is difficult for him to chase the lowest place of the podium. However, it must be mentioned that the rear wheel of his Yaris was at a slightly odd angle after an impact he had in Stage 17. He was working on the left rear corner of his Toyota before the final stage of the day and it looked like he was trying to patch something up on the suspension. Finally, he managed to start in Stage 18, but he lost more than 50 seconds.

Thierry Neuville completes the top five and increased his gap over the sixth Takamoto Katsuta to 42 seconds.

The Japanese driver of Toyota had a brief stop in Stage 18 after a half spin resulting in dropping more than 30 seconds.

Gus Greensmith stole the seventh place from Pierre-Louis Loubet at the end of the penultimate stage of the day.

Greensmith missed his braking coming into a junction in SS16 while Loubet hit a rock and slowed down his pace on the second stage of this afternoon loop.

Adrien Fourmaux and Jari Huttunen are still outside the top ten.
