Kalle Rovanpera explains what led him to crash on the second stage of Ypres Rally and still does not know if he will continue his rally on Saturday.
The Finn driver was leading Ypres Rally Belgium at the end of Stage 1 as he was the fastest driver in the opening stage and his gap from the second Elfyn Evans was at 2,5 seconds.
However, he rolled his Yaris five times in Stage 2 after approaching a left-hander corner. From videos, the front right suspension of his car was not looking good and this may have led him to crash after running wide and touching a bank resulting in his retirement.
"We are back in the service park and most importantly both Jonne and I are OK", Rovanpera said.
"There was these two corners: second one of them we just had a bit too optimistic note for it.
"I had the corner as short and went too early in, couldn't make the corner and slid into the ditch and rolled.
"We did check the car afterwards, it's quite damaged, but it's difficult to say if the roll cage is okay for us to continue tomorrow.
"We have to wait until team gets the car back into the service, so they can take a closer look at it".
