Ott Tanak admits that his victory at Rally Finland is one of his best in his WRC career and this result gives hope to Hyundai to be improved for the future.
The Estonian driver took the lead of this year's Rally Finland from his teammate Thierry Neuville at the end of Stage 2 and since then was managing his gap over his Toyota rivals.
Although he did not feel comfortable with his i20N, he managed to be the fastest driver in six stages and to take Hyundai's first ever win in Finland since the Korean team joined World Rally Championship in 2014.
Last but not least, Tanak has now won Rally Finland three times and has tied Jari-Matti Latvala's and Sebastien Loeb's wins on these fast gravel roads.
"This is a special victory, no question", Tanak said.
"There have been quite a few wins in my career, but this is definitely up there with the best.
"We started the rally at the front and that’s when we were able to take the advantage.
"From there, it was a case of managing things.
"I can’t say I am completely happy with the performance of the car, but we were still able to set good pace.
"This result shows that with some hard work there are chances to perform well, so we need to continue making improvements.
"It gives us hope".
