Thierry Neuville sees no reason to help Ott Tanak at Acropolis Rally on WRC title bid of 2022 with the last one being aware of this.
The Estonian driver is currently standing 72 points behind championship leader Kalle Rovanpera and is the closest contender among Elfyn Evans and Neuville to have the chance to beat Rovanpera on this year's championship.
To become WRC champion in Greece, Rovanpera must score more than 18 points than Tanak and it is difficult to be done as the first one is currently outside the top ten whereas the Hyundai driver is in second place overall.
"No, I don’t think there’s any reason to slow down", Neuville said when asked if he’d consider moving aside for Tänak to take the win and seven extra points.
"We are doing our races seriously and the target is to bring home a double for Hyundai.
"That would be a good result".
On the other side, Ott Tanak respended when he was asked if he believes that Neuville would move aside: "I don’t think so.
"Yesterday Dani was not keen to give me one position, so Thierry is definitely not giving away a position.
"We need to fight for ourselves.
"Let’s see what the weekend brings".
