At the end of the first day of Rally Spain, Sebastien Ogier takes back his lead with Kalle Rovanpera and Thierry Neuville following him.
Sebastien Ogier is the new leader of Rally Spain after the end of Stage 8 as he was the fastest driver in Stage 5 and 8 and he achieved to manage his gap over his rivals.
Kalle Rovanpera climbed to second place overall and set the fastest time in Stage 6 and 7 despite the fact that he struggled with the brakes towards the end of SS5. His gap from Ogier is at 4,8 seconds.
Thierry Neuville dropped from first to third place overall at the end of Stage 5 and said that he could do nothing else as he was pushing too hard.
Ott Tanak lost his second position and is now fourth overall while he said at the end of SS8 that he lost the hybrid power again.
Dani Sordo completes the top five and suffered from a front left puncture in Stage 7 resulting in dropping 18,6 seconds.
Elfyn Evans is in sixth place overall and was the first driver who suffered from a front left puncture in SS7 and lost 38,5 seconds there.
Craig Breen is now seventh and said at the end of SS8 that he was losing the front of his Puma which made it difficult for him to push on tarmac.
Takamoto Katsuta, Adrien Fourmaux and Gus Greensmith complete the top ten.
Katsuta was one of the three drivers who had a front left puncture on the penultimate stage of the day.
Pierre-Louis Loubet remains outside the top ten, but he set the third fastest time in Stage 8.
