Hyundai Motorsport announced yesterday that Oliver Solberg will not continue competing for the Koreans in 2023, but what is the strange coincidence behind this departure?
The team from Alzenau announced on 6 October 2021 that Solberg would share the third i20N Rally1 with Dani Sordo in 2022 with the last one expected to race only in four rallies.
Just one year later at the same day, Hyundai Motorsport made the decision that the Swede driver will not be anymore its driver for 2023, but he will take part in Rally Japan next month as it was previously agreed.
The team principal of Hyundai, Julien Moncet, is currently looking for the third driver of the team for next year as Ott Tanak and Thierry Neuville have a contract until the end of 2023 despite the fact that it is rumored that the Estonian may join M-Sport Ford.
