The team principal of Toyota Gazoo Racing WRT, Jari-Matti Latvala, says that the team is considering Takamoto Katsuta to be at the main driver line-up for next season while he revealed that the announcement will be done next week.
Elfyn Evans and Kalle Rovanpera will be for sure at Toyota next season with a full-season programme while Sebastien Ogier is expected to be a part-time driver again. However, it is rumored that Esapekka Lappi will leave the team and will join Hyundai Motorsport in 2023 as the Korean team has offered him a full-time contract, therefore Takamoto Katsuta may promote to the third Toyota driver and Ogier will drive the fourth GR Yaris Rally1 in selected rallies.
"In two weeks’ time", Latvala answered when he was asked at Rally Japan when Toyota will announce the line-up for 2023.
"I think Takamoto would be one option for the driver lineup next year.
"I think he has started to show that he is capable of doing the results.
"But we have not confirmed the driver lineups yet, so it will be done now during November".
