Ott Tanak says that it was good for him to finish the season on the podium considering the i20N's lack of performance on tarmac while reveals what was his initial target when he signed a contract with Hyundai Motorsport.
The Estonian driver joined Hyundai Motorsport two years ago after his clinching his first driver title in WRC in 2019 when he was driving fot Toyota, but he did not become a WRC Champion again since 2020.
Tanak has won five times and was on the podium 11 times since he was competing with Hyundai Motorsport and the most unexpected victory for him was at Rally Finland this year, a rally that the Koreans have never won in the past as Toyota dominated there and the i20N lacks performance on the fast gravel roads.
Finally, his plans for 2023 remain unknown as he is thinking of taking one year off or continuing in World Rally Championship.
"It is good to finish the season on the podium", Tanak said.
"These were extremely tricky conditions at the end, and it’s been a demanding rally overall.
"For the past couple of events on tarmac, we’ve been lacking some speed to be where we should be.
"Still, we took the result that we could this weekend and there’s been nothing much left.
"We came to Hyundai Motorsport to fight for another championship title; obviously we have never delivered enough to achieve that, but it’s been an incredible experience.
"We’ve met another bunch of people and probably made some friends for life, so it’s been worth every year".
