The team manager of 2C Competition, Florent Peronnet, says that the team is keen on returning to World Rally Championship in the future after their recent victory at Rallye de Var.
2C Competition is a French privateer team that provides Hyundai cars to young drivers. In 2020, the team made its debut in World Rally Championship as they offered to Pierre-Louis Loubet a three-event programme with a Hyundai i20 Coupe WRC while Ole Christian Veiby drove the same car on season finale in Monza. Loubet renewed his contract with the team for 2021 and had the chance to compete in eight rallies that year. Oliver Solberg got behind the wheel of the i20 Coupe WRC in Kenya, therefore the Corsican driver had to miss this rally. Due to the fact that Loubet was injured before the start of Rally Finland, his campaign was forced to be terminated prematurely, thus 2C Competition chose Solberg and Nil Solans for the rest of the season.
Last but not least, since WRC has changed the sporting regulations and the series is running hybrid cars, Hyundai Motorsport was able to build only three cars for their own drivers which means that the new i20N Rally1 is not available for rental yet and the French team could not continue in World Rally Championship in 2022. However, the team is currently competing in local rallies with a i20N Rally2 and in fact Nicolas Ciamin won Rallye du Var a month ago.
"There’s no doubt", Peronnet said.
"It’s clear in my mind that I want to come back to the WRC.
"I’m doing my best and I’m working towards it.
"The WRC is a nice series to work in.
"Can we come back with the Rally1 car?
"I would love to.
"This is not in my hands.
"It’s in my dreams, but not in my hands.
"Right now I think it’s still maybe a little bit complicated for the private team to run the hybrid car, but it’s something we would definitely be working towards.
"For me there is some unfinished business with WRC.
"I love what we do with Hoonigan in ARA and I definitely love American rallying and want to continue over there, but it would be nice to run in WRC as well".
