At the end of the first day, SebastienOgier is leading Rallye Monte Carlo after the two night stages with Elfyn Evans and Ott Tanak following him.
Sebastien Ogier takes an early lead in Monte Carlo as he was the fastest driver in the first two stages of the rally.
Elfyn Evans follows his teammate for six seconds and it seems that he feels more comfortable with his Yaris in comparison with the 2022 season.
Ott Tanak completes the top three and said at the end of Stage 1 that his Puma carried some electrical issues on the road section. In addition to that, he said that he had no fifth gear and was facing difficulty to change the gears during the stages.
Thierry Neuville dropped from third to fourth place overall at the end of Stage 2 as he had a big slide into a bank resulting in stalling the engine of his car. The incident happened when he approached a left-hander and was caught out by black ice.
Kalle Rovanpera comes right behind the Belgian driver for 1,6 seconds and he ran wide at the same corned of SS2 as the last one did.
Dani Sordo climbed into sixth from ninth after SS2 and gained three places. It must be mentioned that the Spaniard said at the end of SS1 that his i20N was moving a lot while there was an oil leak after his leaving from the stop control.
Pierre-Louis Loubet is seventh overall and this is his second outing in Monte Carlo.
Esapekka Lappi comes right behind the M-Sport driver for 1,1 seconds and is being confident that he will find more pace in the next stages.
Takamoto Katsuta is in ninth position and lost major time in SS2 as he suffered from handbrake issues.
