Kalle Rovanpera says that it is good for him that he will not start first on the road at Rally Mexico considering his time loss at Rally Sweden.
The reigning WRC Champion had to open the roads at Rally Sweden due to the fact that he was the leading driver at the championship. His road position on this snow event had as a result to drop time in comparison with his rivals and to lose the chance to defend his last year's win there as he had to clean the stages for the following drivers. At the end of Rally Sweden, Rovanpera finished in fourth place overall and is second on drivers' standings just three points behind Ott Tanak which means that he is heading to Rally Mexico with a small advantage as he will start second on Friday stages.
"This is good", Rovanpera said about his road position for Rally Mexico.
"In Sweden, we were first on the road – we lost 30 seconds in one tricky stage that we drove twice and that time difference was basically where we ended up at the finish.
"We don’t have to do that in Mexico, we don’t have to open the road, so it should be better for us.
"Basically we can go there with a fresh mind and hopefully have a good rally".
