At the end of Saturday morning, Sebastien Ogier is the new leader of Rally Mexico with Elfyn Evans and Thierry Neuville following him.
Sebastien Ogier climbed to first place overall after Stage 11 where Esapekka Lappi crashed and was the fastest driver on the opening stage of the day.
Elfyn Evans completes the 1-2 for Toyota Gazoo Racing WRT and fought hard with Thierry Neuville who threatens the second place of the podium as their gap is at 8,7 seconds.
The Belgian driver attacked his rival Evans as he set the fastest time in three stages in a row (SS12, SS13, SS14) while he beat Ogier for one tenth of a second on the penulatimate stage of the morning loop.
Kalle Rovanpera is fourth overall and he had a moment in Stage 11 when he ran wide on a square left nudging a bank with the car's rear-right corner.
Dani Sordo completes the top five and lost more ground from Rovanpera as their gap is at 43,1 seconds.
Pierre-Louis Loubet and Takamoto Katsuta restarted today under the regulations of Rally2.
Ott Tanak remains outside the top ten and still does not feel comfortable with his Puma on gravel.
Esapekka Lappi was to retire for the rest of Saturday afternoon as he went off the road in Stage 11 and was not able to continue. He hit a bank with the rear right of his i20N and he spun resulting in hitting a pillar with the rear of his car. Afterwards, his car caught fire and Gus Greensmith helped Lappi to extinguish the fire meaning that Stage 11 was red flagged after this incident. The Hyundai driver was leading Rally Mexico after Stage 10 over Sebastien Ogier as their gap was at 5,3 seconds.
