The organizers of Rally Portugal announced the rally route of their event for 2023 season which will host the fifth round of World Rally Championship.
The reconnaisance if the stages will last two days (Tuesday 9 - Wednesday 10 May) for all crews. On Thursday 11 May, the drivers will pass from Shakedown session which is named "Baltar" with the view of making some final changes to their cars before the start of Rally Portugal. At the same day, the fans will have the chance to get signed autograph cards from their favorite crews while the ceremonial start will be held in Coimbra at 18:55 local time.
The real rally action starts on Friday with eight stages and 120,59 Kilometers. Three of them will be running twice ("Lousa", "Gois" and "Arganil") and remains the same as in 2022. "Mortagua" is included only in the afternoon and is the penultimate stage of the day while the superspecial stage "Figueira da Foz" will conclude the day and returns to the itinerary since 1997.
The second day of the rally will be the longest one with 148,88 competitive Kilometers and seven stages. The crews will pass twice from "Vieira do Minho", "Amarante" and "Felgueiras" while Lousada will host a superspecial stage at night. The true challenge for the crews will be "Amarante" which is the longest stage of the rally with 37,24 kilometers.
Sunday includes four stages with the total distance being at 59,59 Kilometers. The opening stage of the day will be "Paredes" which will be followed by "Fafe". "Cabeceiras de Basto" is the penultimate stage of this year's Rally Portugal and is the longest one of the final day. The second pass of "Fafe" will be the Powerstage and will judge which crew and team will score the five maximum points. After the end of PS, the winning crews will head to Matosinhos to receive their trophies.
Totally, Rally de Portugal of 2023 includes 19 stages and 329,06 Kilometers.
