Emil Lindholm reveals that his target is to participate in some rallies where he had not competed in the past with the view of getting more experience and to be well-prepared for the main category of World Rally Championship.
The Finn driver renewed his contract with Skoda Motorsport and Toksport for one more season after his having claimed his maiden WRC2 title in 2022. He has Marco Bulacia, Nikolay Gryazin and Sami Pajari as his teammates for 2023 and his WRC2 campaign started from Rally Sweden last month where he finished seventh overall. His next outing will be Rally Mexico in two weeks and this will be his first time there as he has never competed on this gravel event.
"It’s one of the rallies which is on the calendar most year", Lindholm said.
"I think it’s good to go and do it, to get the experience for the future.
"And, besides that, it’s a really nice rally - the atmosphere is always good out there.
"I have only done maybe seven or eight of the 13 rallies which are on the calendar, and I need to explore the other ones more.
"That’s the target.
"I mean, we wouldn’t be here otherwise - there would be no point it at this level of commitment!
"Last year was only our second full season in WRC2, so we are still quite young.
"We still need to do some more, and I think this is the way to do it.
"To go into WRC unprepared would not end well - I think we’ve seen this in the past".
