The team principal of Hyundai Motorsport, Cyril Abiteboul, is worried about Dani Sordo's speed in 2023, but the first one still believes that his team can count on the Spaniard.
Dani Sordo renewed his deal with Hyundai Motorsport for one more year and will have a partial programme again. So far, he has participated in Monte Carlo and Mexico where he finished seventh and fifth overall respectively, but he could not match the pace of the frontrunners and this can be proved by the fact that he has won only one stage in 2023. His next outing with the Hyundai i20N Rally1 is expected to be Rally de Portugal which will be held next month.
"I am arriving also in the team, so we need to be realistic about what we are expecting from Dani at this point", Abiteboul said.
"So, we need to have a look at the situation.
"Having said that, Dani is a fantastic team member, and we know that we can count on him in that particular situation.
"But we need to see if we can also expect a bit more from a pace perspective".
