Pierre-Louis Loubet knows what he must improve during the rallies as he has discovered his handicap over his teammate Ott Tanak despite the fact that their cars are quite similar.
2023 is the first full-season for Pierre-Louis Loubet in World Rally Championship as M-Sport Ford preferred him to Gus Greensmith and Adrien Fourmaux. His best result so far this year is the sixth place in Sweden three months ago, but still he has not shown his potential compared to what he achieved in 2022 where he claimed three stage wins and was leading an event for the first time in his career. After the end of the fourth WRC round, he is in tenth place overall with 14 points on drivers' championship, 55 points behind the leaders Sebastien Ogier and Elfyn Evans.
"We have a different driving philosophy so our setup is a bit different", Loubet said.
"In the end we have the same thing.
"On the very slippy stages, if you look on Saturday night, the last one, we had a little bit the same problem.
"And the super-long stages of Saturday it was a bit the same.
"We lose the time a bit at the same place.
"So that means the car is quite similar.
"What I see where he’s much better than me is where I see, is the consistency during the race.
"Sometimes I am able to do some very good things but he never drop, you know what I mean?
"He never does a mistake with the tire, he never does a driving mistake, so I think that’s still the problem we face for the moment.
"But I am sure we can improve".
