WRC Promoter and FIA announced that Rally de Portugal will be at next year's WRC calendar as the organizers of the event renewed their contract with them for one more season.
Rally de Portugal hosted the fifth WRC round of this season's championship last weekend and was the 56th version of it in World Rally Championship where Kalle Rovanpera took his first victory of the season and became the new championship leader. More than 300.000 spectators were at Portuguese stages and watched live their favorite crews while there is possibility for the organizers to extend their contract with the WRC Promoter until the end of 2025. So far, Monte Carlo, Sweden, Greece, Kenya, Portugal, Latvia and Chile will be certainly included in the WRC calendar of 2024 while United States and Middle East may return to World Rally Championship Last but not least, it is heard that Croatia will 100% continue to the championship whereas the organizers of Rally Mexico and Rally Great Britain are still fighting to secure a WRC slot in 2024.
"This past weekend, we were once again reminded of the passion this region holds for rallying", the WRC Promoter Managing Director Jona Siebel said.
"We were greeted with loud fans, spectacular competitive stages and exceptional hospitality everywhere we went in the past four days.
"In the ACP we have a strong partner, and we now begin working on planning with them for 2024".
