According to DirtFish's sources, there are talks between Kalle Rovanpera and Hyundai Motorsport for next season which means that he may exit Toyota.
His manager, Timo Jouhki reached a long-term agreement with the former team principal of Toyota, Tommi Makinen, in which he was allowed to compete in WRC2 class with Skoda Motorsport. He was a WRC2 driver for the Czech brand for two years (2018-2019) before making his debut with Toyota at the top level in 2020. The reigning WRC Champion tested Yaris for the first time when he was 15 years old and became the WRC2 Pro Champion four years ago showing his potential to Akio Toyoda's team. All of his victories at the top level came with Toyota as well as his maiden title last year. His contract with Toyota expires at the end of this season while it is rumored that he may not be satisfied with the fact that Sebastien Ogier has stolen from him valuable points for the championship as the last one has won two rallies (Monte Carlo, Mexico) so far.
On the other hand, Hyundai Motorsport stated earlier this season that the team is looking for a long-term agreement with a young driver for the future as Dani Sordo is not sure if he will continue in the sport after the end of 2023 which means that there will be an available seat. Thierry Neuville has a multi-year contract with the Koreans whereas Esapekka Lappi agreed with them for only one year meaning that he will be out of contract. However, EP has impressed with his performance as he shows that he has found his rhythm inside the i20N considering the fact that he was leading three events (Sweden, Mexico, Sardinia) and has finished on the podiums positions three times in a row (Croatia, Portugal, Sardinia).
