The stewards of Safari Rally Kenya decided to disqualify Thierry Neuville from their event as the last one breached the sporting regulations during the recce.
The Belgian driver retired from the third place in Stage 6 as the front-left suspension of his i20N broke after a compression. He restarted on Saturday under the regulations of Rally2 and managed to gain ten places on the final two days of Safari Rally finishing in eighth position overall while he took the five points in Powerstage, totally he scored nine points in Kenya. However, FIA and the stewards were notified that one person related to Neuville was on two stages during the recce without authorization and was checking if any stone was moved with the intention of reporting it to the Hyundai driver, so he and his co-driver made some adjustments to their pacenotes. For this reason, the Belgian crew are being disqualified from the seventh WRC round of 2023 and do not score any point for the championship.
