At the end of the first day, Ott Tanak leads Safari Rally Kenya after Stage 1 with Sebastien Ogier and Kalle Rovanpera following him.
Ott Tanak was the fastest driver on the superspecial stage of Kasarani and is leading for only one tenth of a second over the second Sebastien Ogier.
Kalle Rovanpera completes the 2-3 for Toyota and had Thierry Neuville as his opponent in Kasarani. The Belgian driver was slower than Rovanpera for 0,3 seconds and is in fourth place overall.
Elfyn Evans is fifth overall and left Esapekka Lappi behind for 0,7 seconds. It is the first time for EP to be in Kenya and does not know what to expect in the stages, but he stated that he has watched many videos for his preparation.
Takamoto Katsuta, Dani Sordo, Pierre-Louis Loubet and Oliver Solberg complete the top ten.
