Dani Sordo is talking about his incident on the fourth stage of Rally Italia Sardegna which led him to go off the road and to roll his i20N.
The Spaniard driver was in sixth place overall at the end of Stage 3, but he dropped outside the top ten after the final stage of the morning loop on Friday when he went off the 48.5 Km into SS4. The incident happened when he ran wide on a left-hander and rolled down a banking resulting in ending up in a ditch. Luckily for him, there were spectators in this area and helped him and Candido Carrera to return back to the stage and to complete it after three minutes. As Stage 4 was the concluding stage of the morning, he managed to retirn back to service park and Hyundai mechanics repaired his damaged i20N as the windscreen was cracked and there was a massive damage to the bonnet and the front bumper.
"It was so difficult with the hard tyres and the car was so difficult to drive with the grip and I just braked a little bit late in one right corner before a left corner and I went a little bit out wide", Sordo said.
"I was thinking I would get a bit stuck there so I went ahead and there was a big hole and we rolled.
"It was not a big crash, there was just a big hole and we didn't expect it.
"We just hit the ground really strong with the front of the car and then we rolled.
"It looks much more serious than it was".
