Emil Lindholm is being very excited for his debut with Hyundai Motorsport at Rally Estonia next weekend and has already set a podium finish as his goal.
The WRC2 Champion of 2022 renewed his contract with Skoda Motorsport and Toksport for this year, but he did not manage to take a victory with the brand-new Fabia RS Rally2 to defend his title. Hyundai created a new programme (Hyundai Motorsport Driver development Programme) one month ago in which Teemu Suninen and Lindholm have been added. The Alzenau-based team gave the chance to Suninen to drive the third i20N Rally1 in Estonia and Finland, therefore they announced Lindholm to replace the first one on these fast gravel rallies. Before the start of the eighth WRC round of the season, Lindholm has 44 points and is in fifth place on the standings, 33 points behind the championship leader Yohan Rossel.
"It’s exciting to go into my first event in the Hyundai i20 N Rally2", Lindholm said.
"It’s a new team and a new car, and it’s already feeling impressive so I’m confident going into Estonia.
"The roads are soft so they get rutted but, of course, they’re super-fast – some unique road conditions.
"It reminds me of my home rally, so of course I like it.
"The target for the weekend is to enjoy the car, enjoy the roads and to do our best.
"I believe we have everything we need to achieve a podium in Estonia".
