Rally Estonia - 3rd Day - 2nd Loop: Rovanpera's dominance continues, Evans still fighting with Lappi



At the end of Saturday afternoon, Kalle Rovanpera is still leading Rally Estonia with Thierry Neuville and Esapekka Lappi following him.

Kalle Rovanpera stays out in front with one day remaining until the end of Rally Estonia and set the fastest time in all afternoon stages today.

Thierry Neuville remains in second place overall as his rival increased his lead from 20,3 to 34,9 seconds at the end of Saturday. The Belgian was the second fastest driver in three from five stages in the afternoon while he reported a problem with the diff pressures at the end of Stage 16.

Esapekka Lappi completes the 2-3 and is 7,3 seconds in front of Elfyn Evans, but their fight for the podium will continue on Sunday.

Teemu Suninen is safely in fifth position overall and now feels more comfortable with the i20N as it is his first time competing with a hybrid car at the top level.

Pierre-Louis Loubet went wind in Stage 13 while he lost the hybrid boost in SS14, but he managed to fix this problem at the regroup zone, thus his Puma was back at full-force for the three final stages of the day. Moreover, the lack of power did not have an impact to his place, therefore he is still ahead of Takamoto Katsuta who is seventh overall.

The Japanese driver faced a serious problem with his Yaris when he arrived at the finish line of SS14 as he culd not restart his Yaris, but he managed to continue his rally. In addition to that, he and Aaron Johnston swapped their helmets before the start of Stage 15 as there was an intercom issue which was solved for the next two stages.

Ott Tanak cannot improve his place as his gap from the seventh Katsuta is over three minutes, but he was able to fight back on the first two days of the rally and to be eighth overall.
