WRC Promoter and FIA announced today that Rally Finland will keep its slot to the calendar for three more years.
Rally Finland is one of the most iconic events in World Rally Championship and was firstly held in 1951 where Vilho Mattila won it with an Austin Atlantic car. The latest winner of this rally is Ott Tanak who managed to break Hyundai curse last year and to claim his third victory of this fast gravel event. Rally Finland is also considered as the gravel Grand Prix of WRC as the stages are super fast and the drivers are in full-throttle all the time. In addition to that, there are many crests and blind corners which make Rally Finland a very demanding event for the crews as they must be very focused on the pacenotes. Last but not least, it must be mentioned that Toyota's base is at Jyvaskyla since the team reentered in WRC in 2017 while Hyundai followed its rival and moved its factory there the last couple of years.
