Acropolis Rally - 3rd Day - 2nd Loop: Rovanpera takes a shock lead in SS12 as Ogier/Neuville falter

At the end of Saturday, Kalle Rovanpera is now leading Acropolis Rally with Dani Sordo and Elfyn Evans following him.

Kalle Rovanpera was chasing his teammate for the lead on on the first two stages of Saturday afternoon after Neuville's retirement in SS10, but eventually he became the new rally leader on the final stage of the day as Ogier dropped major time in SS12.

Dani Sordo moves up to second and is now the top Hyundai driver after Neuville's retirement, but dropped to fourth position after SS11 as his advantage over Evans was at 1,6 seconds after the end of SS10.

Elfyn Evans follows the Spaniard for five seconds and lost his third place at the end of SS12 as he heard a strange noise before the start of that stage and did not want to take any risk.

Sebastien Ogier drops from first to fourth overall as he lost more than four minutes in Stage 12 as he damaged the rear-left suspension and had to drive slowly throughout that stage.

Ott Tanak gained three places today and is now fifth overall while he lost some seconds in SS12 as he had a spin and feeled that the rear axle was loose.

Esapekka Lappi tried to defend his position over Tanak on Saturday afternoon, but his i20N continued to carry problems as he mentioned at the end of SS11 that the alternator and the transmission were broken.

Takamoto Katsuta dropped to seventh and slipped behind Tanak and EP as he lost over five minutes in Stage 11 after stopping twice to change two front punctures.

Thierry Neuville was leading Acropolis Rally until the end of Saturday morning, but he was forced to retire in Stage 10 with a broken front-right suspension. The incident happened when he hit a hole in muddy section which was 11.1 Km into SS10.
