According to Motorsport.com sources, only three tyre brands are known that are set to take part in FIA's tender as the contract with Pirelli will expire at the end of 2024.
More specifically, Pirelli Motorsport won the previous tyre tender and became the exclusive tyre supplier in 2021, but the agreement between the Italian brand and FIA was only for three years which means that it will end at the end of 2024. On the other hand, Michelin Motorsport is among the tyre contenders for this year's tyre tender and it must be mentioned that it was the WRC tyre supplier from 2011 to 2020 at the same time that DMACK joined World Rally Championship that period (2012-2017) and supported Elfyn Evans at M-Sport in 2017. Finally, the Indian tyre brand, MRF, has also expressed its interest to take part in FIA's tyre tender after the successful results it has in ERC this year.
Every tyre brand must present one a minimum of two variants of gravel and tarmac tyres, a snow tyre and a tarmac winter tyre - one with studs and another without studs while the application deadline is until September 15. FIA is set to announce the winner of the tender on October 19 which will be the exclusive supplier from 2025 to 2027 in World Rally Championship.
