The WRC event director, Simon Larkin, says that the governments of Chile and Argentina are very close in on reaching a multi-year agreement with FIA and WRC Promoter from 2025 onwards.
Rally Chile returned back to the World Rally Championship since 2019 and 2023 was the second time for this country to be the host of a WRC round. On the other hand, one of the most iconic events at the calendar, Rally Argentina, is absent from the series for four years as it was cancelled in 2020 due to COVID-19 restrictions. WRC Promoter and FIA are working on having a 14-event calendar in the future and it is believed that Chile and Argentina will secure their places in World Rally Championship with a three-year contract from 2025 and may be running back-to-back.
"We are intending to make it happen, very much so", Larkin said.
"We would like to run them back-to-back from 2025, with parallel three-year deals".
