As the
championship heads to the twelfth WRC round of the season, Kalle Rovanpera can
put an end to his teammate’s hopes to clinch his maiden title in the series, but
how the Finn driver can become a WRC Champion for a second consecutive time at
Central European Rally?
The crews will
face a new challenge in less than a week as they will compete in a brand-new
event which will be held in three countries (Austria, Czech Republic and Germany).
Kalle Rovanpera is heading to CER with a 31-point advantage over his title
rival Elfyn Evans who outscored the WRC Champion by two points in Chile earlier
this month. The 23-year old Toyota driver has to score 29 points more than
Evans at Central European Rally with the intention of becoming a WRC Champion
again in his career, but his task is very difficult as both of them have a good
road position. Below we examine how Rovanpera’s and Evans’s results at CER will
define if the first one will be crowned the WRC Champion of 2023.
