Official: Loubet rejoins forces with Skoda for 2024 WRC2 title bid

Pierre-Louis Loubet confirmed today that he will drive for Skoda Motorsport and Toksport in 2024 making return to WRC2 class since 2019.

The Corsican driver was crowned as WRC2 Champion in 2019 when he was competing with Skoda Motorsport at the support WRC category. A year later, he made his debut at the top tier with 2C Competition, which is a private team, and got behind the wheel of a Hyundai i20 Coupe WRC. Both parties extended their partnership for one more season before Loubet's switch to M-Sport Ford as a part-time driver in 2022. He impressed Malcolm Wilson's team two years ago as he won three stages and stole the lead of Acropolis Rally from his teammate, Sebastien Loeb, at the end of Friday morning. Despite his impressive performance in 2022, Loubet did not deliver the results that M-Sport Ford expected in 2023, which was his full-season in World Rally Championship, thus the team chose Adrien Fourmaux and Gregoire Munster to drive the Puma this year. As all WRC teams have already announced their line-ups for the upcoming season, Loubet confirmed today that he will return back to WRC2 action with Toksport and will have Oliver Solberg and Gus Greensmith as his teammates. Last but not least, it must be mentioned that Toyota gave him the chance to test the new GR Yaris Rally2 in Alps a month ago and it was speculated that he would drive this new car in 2024.

"The title of WRC2 World Champion in 2019 with Skoda Motorsport is the most beautiful memory of my career!", Loubet said.

"I'm super excited to be back with this manufacturer, with the Toksport team, but also to this championship which promises to be so exciting again this year!".
