At the end of the first day, Elfyn Evans takes an early lead in Monte Carlo with Thierry Neuville and Sebastien Ogier following him.
Elfyn Evans does a great start in 2024 as he is the leader of Rallye Monte Carlo after the two night stages as he set the fastest time in SS1 and SS2.
Thierry Neuville climbed to second place overall, but his i20N suffered from a problem in Stage 2 with the Belgian having not revealed what happened to his car.
Sebastien Ogier does the 1-3 for Toyota and expected to be slower considering his road position.
Ott Tanak dropped from second to fourth place as he reported a throttle issue at the end of SS1, but the problem got even worse in SS2 resulting in losing time and slipping behind Ogier for 1,2 seconds.
Adrien Fourmaux completes the top five and is the top driver for M-Sport Ford while his performance was impressive in Stage 1 by setting the fifth-fastest time on the opening stage of the rally.
Takamoto Katsuta follows the Frenchman for 7,3 seconds as he was too careful during these stages.
Gregoire Munster is in seventh position after SS2, but his place in under threat by Andreas Mikkelsen as their gap is at 2,8 seconds.
The Norwegian is at the bottom of the overall RC1 classification on his Rally1 debut and still has to adapt to his new car, but he struggled with the engine mapping in SS1 as his i20N started to accelerate with the slower speed.
